I
do not remember having dreamed of any work or career as a child, but I remember
perfectly that when I was in high school I decided that I wanted to be a
psychologist. The first time I took the test I did not do well. The second time
I could choose what I wanted, but I was so afraid of not enter the university that I applied for two more careers: kinesiology and dentistry, but my first
three options were psychology, and I stayed in the first.
I
think that studying psychology was the best decision I could make. I have
always relied on my communication skills and my ability to empathize with
others.
In
the university I confirmed my vision. I have always liked to study, I have done
many specialization courses, two postgraduate courses and I am currently doing my
doctorate in psychology. While it is stressful at times, most of the time I
find it interesting and challenging. Once I graduate, I hope to continue my
academic career and participate in research teams in the area that interests
me, old age and gender violence.
dear Claudia: your communication skills and your empathy are characteristics that distinguish you. You are an excellent psychologist and it is a pleasure to share this PhD experience with you
